Apple-Cherry Crumble

It's a restless but beautiful fall day today, and after fighting the urge all day I finally caved and did what I do best: bake. Specifically, an Apple-Cherry Crumble. Today has just felt like a perfect fall baking day. Oh but I didn't want apple pie, nor did I want just a plain apple crisp or cherry streusel. I wanted something... more. I had yummy apples to be used, and tart cherries from the local orchard in the freezer (a leftover from the 4th of July when I bought 20lbs of tart cherries to can and freeze). The combination has turned out to be a pefect match - that amazing apple flavor that is associated with fall alongside the tart cherries, a fantastic reminder of summer.
